Australian Mince Pie

Serves/Makes:4 or more

Ingredients
  • 1 lb (.5 kg). minced steak
  • 2 green shallots, chopped
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) dry mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chutney
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) curry powder
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) milk
  • 4-1/2 oz (126 grm). instant dried potato flakes
  • 1 cup (225 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) milk
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) butter, melted
  • 1 green shallot, chopped, extra
Preparation
  • Combine mince steak with shallots, soy sauce, mustard, egg, tomato sauce, chutney, curry powder, milk, and 3/4 cup (175 ml) of potato flakes.
  • Mix well.
  • Press firmly into 7 inch pie plate.
  • Cook on high 10 minutes in microwave.
  • Combine remaining dried ingredients.
  • Spread over mince mixture, reheat on High for 2 to 4 minutes.
Comments
This recipe was cooked in 600 watt microwave according to the book. I am sure you could adjust and cook in conventional over accordingly. You could use left-over mashed potatoes for the topping. Hope this is what you were looking for.
